With due regards to the important and vital role that hydropower generation plays both in the Khuzestan province and throughout Iran, in 1996, the Khuzestan Water and Power Authority ( KWPA) established KHPIMC to ensure the stability and safety of power generation in the national grid and augmented KHPIMC's  potential specifically in the areas of, major overhauling , repairs  and maintenance, installation and  rehabilitation of power plants, manufacture and upgrading of power plants components, hydro components, switch yards and pump stations.
