The Khuzistan Power Plants repairs and Maintenance Company was established in 1996 in Ahwaz through a combination of public and private shares with the sole purpose of centralizing and consolidating specialized human resources and technical skills in the field of power plants repairs and maintenance. 

In 2002, a new company was formed under the name of The Khuzestan Hydro Power Plants Installation and Maintenance Company or KHPIMC and officially commenced its activities in March 2003 as the sole contractor for the maintenance and major overhauling of the Dez and Shahid Abbasspour hydropower plants and as a main contractor for repairs , maintenance , major overhauling and rehabilitation of hydropower plants throughout Iran
